“Studying with In-Depth Practical Experience” at University of Applied Sciences Jena is a standard university degree program combined with practical training phases at a partner company or institution during periods when there are no classes or exams. It combines the advantages of a dual study program with those of a regular university degree program.

“Studying with In-Depth Practical Experience” is offered for all Bachelor’s programs with open admission as well as all Master’s programs!

Your steps towards a degree with in-depth practical experience

University enrollment and the contract with the company exist in parallel and are independent of one another. 

  1. Find a partner company:
    Apply to one of our partner companies or institutions, or establish contact with another company that is willing to enter into a partnership with the university. Sign the contract with the partner company or institution.

  2. Secure a spot in the program:
    After signing the contract, enroll online in your desired degree program at EAH Jena. 

    Please note! “Studying with In-Depth Practical Experience” is not a separate degree program; instead, you enroll in your desired degree program. You will then select the program format there.

  3. Enrollment:
    When enrolling, select “Studying with In-Depth Practical Experience” and begin your studies.

Course Structure with In-Depth Practical Training

  • “Studying with In-Depth Practical Experience” typically begins with a pre-internship at a company or partner institution.
  • After the preliminary internship, you’ll begin your studies at EAH Jena. You’ll complete the program in the usual manner according to the curriculum, and during semester breaks, you’ll work at the company or institution. The course schedule is the same for all students in the program.
  • The industrial internship usually takes place at the company or institution and is the longest practical phase during “Studying with In-Depth Practical Experience”.
  • “Studying with In-Depth Practical Experience” concludes after approximately three and a half years with the bachelor’s thesis, which is usually written at the partner company or institution.
