Research and Development

Precision Systems

The development and efficient design of these systems with a view to concrete applications is the focus of this research area. The spectrum ranges from microsystems technology, information and communication technology and mechatronics to sensor technology.

Technologies and materials

This priority area focuses on innovative processes for manufacturing, new optical technologies, nano- and microtechnologies and additive-generative manufacturing processes (3D printing). The development of new, application-specific materials is an essential element in all areas.

Health and sustainability

The individual and society are at the centre of this research area. The topics range from maintaining health to understanding social processes and engineering solutions for medicine.
