Master of Engineering
A Bachelor's degree or another at least equivalent university degree in the subject area or another technical or natural science subject area whose curriculum covers the subject-specific entry requirements for the Master's degree programme "Laser and Optotechnologies". These are in particular degrees in the fields of ophthalmic optics, precision engineering, mechanical engineering, mechatronics, physical engineering, industrial engineering and comparable courses of study.
Assessment criteria:
- Weighting of the final grade of the first academic degree: score = (4 - final grade or preliminary average grade) * 25 points.
- Assessment of the quality and fit of the completed Bachelor's degree (up to 20 points)
- Evaluation of the quality of special academic achievements through research work in relevant subject area (up to 20 points)
- Evaluation of the letter of motivation, taking into account the previous educational and professional career (up to 10 points).
50 of the 125 possible points are required for admission.
Good foreign language skills are required, which are usually demonstrated by having completed modules in foreign languages in the Bachelor's degree programme. These can also be foreign language modules.
Application documents specific to the degree programme:

- If available: Proof of research work in a relevant subject area
- Proof of English language skills by means of an appropriate certificate, e.g. English module in studies, TOEFL or IELTS test

- Additional information and additional upload (e.g. proof of professional activities and internships, proof of further education and training)
When applying online, the following documents must be submitted electronically in the aptitude procedure for consecutive Master's degree programmes (in PDF format, max. 1000 kb per proof):
- Bachelor's degree completed
- Copy of the Bachelor's or Diploma certificate
- Copy of the Bachelor's or Diploma certificate
- Copy of the detailed overview of subjects or achievements in addition to the Bachelor's degree certificate

After successful online application and admission to the desired degree programme, you apply for enrolment electronically and then send the enrolment documents (see below) to the university by post.
- signed application for enrolment (generated after the electronic application for enrolment)
- current copy of your passport or identity document
- Bank statement with proof of payment of the semester fee
- An electronic notification of your health insurance status. Please contact your health insurance company so that they can send us the required M10 notification electronically. Please quote the sender number of the Ernst-Abbe-Hochschule Jena H0001255.
- Proof of completion of the Bachelor's degree:
- Officially certified copy of the Bachelor's certificate as well as the Bachelor's degree certificate (if you are studying at EAH Jena for the first time) or
- a simple copy of the Bachelor's certificate (if you have already completed your Bachelor's degree at EAH Jena).
- Copy of the exmatriculation certificate
Note: If the documents on the completion of the Bachelor's degree are not yet available, please send a subject and performance overview with an overall grade. If this is also not yet available, you can also use this form to provide confirmation of the successful completion of the Bachelor's degree programme.
1. you can have certifications made, for example, by municipal authorities (e.g. city council), health insurance companies or a notary. Otherwise, if you submit your application documents to us in person, you can bring along your original certificates and show them to us.
In your own interest, please make sure that the documents you submit are complete, otherwise your application for enrollment may be processed with a time delay.
3. please do not send us originals unless this is expressly requested.
