Materials Engineering

Bachelor of Engineering

Register now!
Application for winter semester 15.05. To 30.09.

The first two semesters provide solid knowledge of the mathematical-scientific and engineering fundamentals. The other semesters serve to deepen the knowledge of the most important classes of materials including production, properties, processing and areas of application.
The 6th semester includes an integrated practical phase and the Bachelor's thesis. Here, the knowledge acquired in the course of study is to be used in a practical project work to solve problems typical for the profession.

The Bachelor's thesis and practical phase are usually carried out in industry or research institutions. The internship also offers the opportunity to get to know everyday business life and to make initial contacts with possible future employers. The programme ends with a colloquium in which students defend their Bachelor's thesis.

If students are suitable, they can continue their studies consecutively in the Master's programme in Materials Technology/Materials Engineering at the University of Applied Sciences Jena. The Master's programme serves to deepen the knowledge and enables a subsequent doctorate.
