That makes the study programme special:

  • In the primary qualifying study programme Occupational Therapy, theoretical and practical teaching takes place in combination with occupation-specific and interdisciplinary modules.
  • The practical part of the study programme comprises four practical phases, which are carried out in close cooperation with regional cooperating inpatient institutions (e.g. hospitals, medical, vocational and social rehabilitation centres, old people's and nursing homes) as well as outpatient services (occupational therapy practices that also make home visits) under the overall supervision of the study programme.
  • The occupational therapy degree programme focuses on the concept of human activity in everyday life and invokes the latest scientific knowledge on how everyday activities can be used therapeutically in disorders of routines and habits in people of all ages.
The occupational therapy curriculum is geared towards five different focal points: methodological-technical basics, occupational therapy as a science, social participation as a goal, innovative approaches such as salutogenesis and natural healing methods, and cooperation in teams, also beyond medicine.
  • The study programme qualifies students for professional work in all traditional fields of occupational therapy practice to date and additionally prepares them for newly emerging fields of work, such as health promotion in companies, personal support with occupational therapy clients in school, training, work and leisure, or for an academic career in teaching and research.
