Then the bachelor's degree program in Applied Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence at University of Applied Sciences Jena is just right for you! Here you will gain practical knowledge of all important areas of applied computer science – from software and algorithm development to creative IT solutions. This degree program will start for the first time in the winter semester 2026/2027.

What is the structure of the programme?

The seven-semester bachelor's program combines lectures and exercises with exciting internships in modern laboratories. At the beginning of the program, you will learn the basics of natural sciences and engineering as well as languages, including mathematics, computer science, electrical engineering, and technical English. There is a project study already in the first semester. In the following semesters, you will specialize in an area of application in computer science, such as robotics. By selecting various elective modules in the fifth and sixth semesters, you can delve deeper into topics that match your interests and preferred future fields of work. The seventh semester includes an internship at a company or research institution. Here you will gain important insights into the professional life of a computer scientist. The program concludes with your bachelor's thesis on a practical computer science topic.

What are the entry requirements?

  • Higher education entrance qualification (Abitur), subject-related higher education entrance qualification or entrance qualification for a university of applied sciences (Fachhochschulreife)
  • You don't have a higher education entrance qualification but you have work experience? Find out about studying without High School Diploma.

What career prospects do I have after completing my studies?

With your internationally recognized bachelor's degree, you will find work in the following fields: hardware and software development, research and development, project management, marketing, and sales. Possible industries include IT, automotive, aviation, aerospace, medical technology, mechanical and plant engineering, and infotainment system development. Successful completion of the bachelor's program also qualifies you to enroll in our master's program.

How does the application process work?

Application period 15.05. to 30.09.
1. Registration

Register on the Campusportal.
Important: Only register once, even if you wish to apply for several degree programmes. If you apply for a degree programme with open admission, your place is guaranteed. You can therefore only apply for and enrol in one degree programme with open admission.

2. Add and submit application form

Select your desired degree and course of study and enter all the necessary information in the campus portal. If necessary, upload the requested supporting documents.
Once you have submitted your application electronically, you will be automatically redirected to the online enrolment page. If you obtained your school/university degree outside Germany or have already studied in Germany, we will review your application before you can apply for enrolment.

3. Apply for enrolment

Then apply for online enrolment in the Campusportal by entering all the necessary data. You will then find your enrolment application as a PDF file on the campus portal.

4. Send the enrolment application

Print out the enrolment application form, sign it and send it by post, together with all the required documents, to the address on the form.

5. Done – Welcome to our university!

Once we have received and checked your documents, you will be enrolled and will receive a starter pack with your THOSKA card by post from the Student Registrar's Office.
