Here we have compiled the most important questions (FAQ) regarding the application process and enrollment.
General Questions
The registration period for the winter semester runs from May 15 to September 30, and for the summer semester from December 1 to March 30.
You are likely applying outside the regular application period. Some degree programs allow you to start in either the summer or winter semester, while others can only be started in the winter semester. You can find an overview of our degree programs and their respective start dates in the program catalog.
Under certain conditions, you can study at the University of Applied Sciences Jena without a university entrance qualification.
Have you already been enrolled in the same or a similar degree program at another university and would like to apply for a higher semester?
You must apply through the Campusportal for the first semester. You can only apply to the relevant examination office for credit transfer and any resulting advancement to a higher semester after you have enrolled.
Questions about the application
In progress: You are still working on your application and have not yet submitted it.
Received: You have submitted your application. Your application is still being reviewed by the Student Registrar's Office because, for example, you have previously studied at another university or hold a foreign high school diploma.
In progress: Your application is currently being processed by the Student Registrar's Office.
Admitted: You can now apply for online enrollment.
Enrollment application received: You have completed the online enrollment process and must now send your documents to us.
Enrollment application in progress: Your enrollment application has been received by the Student Office. Some documents are still missing.
Enrolled: You are enrolled at the University of Applied Sciences Jena.
Once you have completed the online registration process, an application for enrollment will be generated as a PDF in the Campusportal.
Sign the application and submit it, along with the documents listed on it, to the Student Registrar's Office.
Once you have submitted all the required documents, you will be enrolled at the University of Applied Sciences Jena.
As soon as the status of your enrollment application changes to “enrolled,” you can access your student login credentials. You will receive your student ID card (thoska) in the mail along with our starter package.
Orientation days take place at the beginning of the semester. Learn about your program’s curriculum and get the most important information for starting your studies.
Not at all! We don’t need proof from your health insurance provider until you enroll. The proof is sent to us electronically, directly from your health insurance provider. Let your health insurance provider know that you’re studying with us. Your health insurance provider will then send us your insurance certificate. You can often easily request the proof online via your health insurance provider’s website or app.

As soon as the status of your enrollment application changes to "enrolled," you can download your enrollment certificate or certificate of enrollment from the Campus Portal.
You can only enroll in one degree program. This means you must first give up the spot you no longer want before you can apply to enroll in the other program.
If you are already enrolled, you can no longer return your spot via the Campusportal. In this case, please contact the staff of the Admissions Team: bewerben@eah-jena.de.
You can apply to switch to a program with no admission restrictions directly through the Campusportal. After logging in, you’ll find the “Program Application” quick link on the home page.
If you decide not to begin your studies after all and wish to cancel your enrollment, please submit your request for cancellation before the start of the semester—that is, by March 31 at the latest for the summer semester (deadline) or by September 30 at the latest for the winter semester (final deadline). Please note the additional information regarding the cancellation/return of your study place.
