The event, which began in the afternoon with a champagne reception and coffee buffet in the auditorium foyer, attracted numerous graduates, their families and friends. Some guests had travelled from far away.

With over 300 guests, the central ceremony, which took place for the first time in this form, was a complete success.

Nancy Reichel hosted the programme. The university ensemble opened the ceremony with two atmospheric pieces of music. President Prof Steffen Teichert welcomed those present with a refreshing speech.

The main part of the ceremony was the honouring of the graduates with the presentation of a certificate folder and a flower by those responsible for the degree programme or department. Warm words were often exchanged.

In his speech, a graduate of the English-language Master's degree programme ‘Scientific Instrumentation’ looked back on his studies at the Ernst Abbe University and gave valuable advice for the future.

After the ceremony, there was the opportunity to visit the university's premises, which was gladly accepted by the guests. Feedback on their studies was given on colourful cards in ‘sugar cubes’, often with sweet words. Those present were able to bring the event to a cosy close while enjoying Thuringian barbecue specialities.
