Bachelor's degree programs

The Bachelor is the first academic degree and professional qualification. We award the respective academic degree after successful completion of studies: Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) or Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.). If you have any questions or problems, you can get advice and help from the respective head of the study programme.

Precison Engineering (B.Eng.)

You like technology, want to develop and build - not just calculate. Cars are okay for you, but you find robots much cooler. You'd rather explore the next planet than the next highway? Would you rather have a super microscope than a super car? Then you're interested in high tech engineering. So are we!

In the bachelor's degree program "Precision Engineering" we prepare you for a career in modern engineering. You'll discover a world of high-precision machines and computer simulations with laser manufacturing and 3D printing. Add a little optics, computer science and electronics and you'll be building the next Mars robot!

Master's programs

The Master's degree is an academic degree and a professionally qualifying degree. It can serve to scientifically deepen previous studies or open up new areas of knowledge. It also entitles the holder to a doctorate. We award the respective academic degree after successful completion of studies: Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) and Master of Science (M.Sc.). If you have any questions or problems, you can get advice and help from the respective head of the study programme.

Further education

The SciTec department offers professional practitioners an opportunity to further their education in special fields on a part-time basis and in a practical manner in theory and practice at university level.

Currently, 7 certificate courses in the field of "Ophthalmic Optics/ Optometry/ Vision Science" are offered in cooperation with the Jena Academy of Lifelong Learning e.V. (JenALL e.V.) are offered.

The modular further education "Optics" (also in cooperation with JenALL e.V.) comprises 9 modules.
