What career prospects do I have after completing my studies?

Graduates of the part-time Master's programme "Clinical Optometry" have a complex field of application that represents an excellent interface between people, medicine and technology, both in practical ophthalmic optics/optometry and health services as well as in research and development. They are thus able to recognise, analyse and adequately care for visual disorders at a scientific level. This includes optical and optometric as well as biological and clinical-medical knowledge and techniques to investigate visual disorders and achieve the best possible vision.

With the further education and part-time Master's degree programme "Clinical Optometry", you will open up further professional fields of application beyond the traditional optician's trade, such as specialised optician's shops/optometry practices/institutes, contact lens institutes, ophthalmological institutions (ophthalmologist's practices and eye clinics) or institutions for rehabilitation of the visually impaired. They are able to apply comprehensive optometric examinations in a practice-relevant and goal-oriented manner through knowledge and techniques on the visual system and its measurement.

The scientific training during the study programme and the writing of a master's thesis also enables them to work at a research institute.

By imparting competences in business administration and project management, management positions in specialist shops, branches and companies in the field of ophthalmic optics/optometry as well as in the optical industry, e.g. in marketing or in research and development, can be excellently filled.

With the "Master of Science" degree, you also acquire an internationally recognised qualification and thus have the opportunity to work abroad. And if you would like to continue your studies, there is the possibility to start a doctorate.
