Change of department management as of 21 October 2025

At the constituent meeting of the Department Council on 1 October 2025, Prof. Frank Dienerowitz was elected as the new Dean of the SciTec Department. He is supported by the two new Vice Deans Prof Mirko Pfaff and Prof Wolfgang Sickenberger.

The SciTec department would like to thank Prof Mirko Pfaff for his outstanding commitment and responsibility as Dean of the department, which spanned two terms of office. The SciTec department wishes the new department management much strength for the tasks ahead.

Change of SciTec Examination Board

On 1 October 2025, a new Examination Board was appointed by the SciTec Department Council. Prof Robert Brunner and Prof Ronny Gerbach will continue to serve. Prof Philipp Heßler and Markus Kretz (Precision Engineering B.Eng. student) have been appointed as new members of the examination board.

The new Chair will be elected at the constituent meeting of the Examination Board. Until then, Prof Ronny Gerbach will take over the chairmanship on an interim basis.

The SciTec Department would like to thank Prof Dominique Buchenau for his responsible work as Chairman of the Examination Board. The SciTec Department wishes the new members of the Examination Board every success.

Change of programme director for Ophthalmic Optics/Optometry B.Sc.

From 01.10.2025, Prof. Philipp Heßler will take over the office of course advisor for the Bachelor's degree programme ‘Ophthalmic Optics/Optometry’. The SciTec Department wishes Prof Heßler every success in his new position.

The SciTec Department would like to thank Prof. Stephan Degle for his many years of responsible work as a course advisor for the Bachelor's degree programme in Ophthalmic Optics/Optometry, which he held until 30.09.2025.
