Change of Degree Program
How can I change my degree program?
Changing your degree program means that you must formally apply for and enroll in the program you wish to pursue in the future by the specified deadline. The same application deadlines apply to you as to applicants who are not currently enrolled at the University of Applied Sciences Jena. For Bachelor’s programs with limited admission, applications are submitted via Hochschulstart.
You apply for the program via the Campusportal. There, you must upload a complete transcript of your academic record. You can find a brief guide to the application process at https://www.eah-jena.de/en/studium/im-studium/campusportal/study-application
For enrollment, we generally only require the enrollment application from you (exception: programs with limited admission).
Please note that you must transfer the semester fee within the re-registration period, specifying your student ID number. Changing your program of study does not extend the re-registration deadline.
What are the most important things to keep in mind when changing my degree program?
If your current degree program is related in terms of subject matter or content to the program you wish to transfer into, the academic credits you have already earned may be recognized. This may allow you to be placed into a higher semester.
Therefore, you should speak with the academic advisor for your desired program as early as possible before transferring. After changing programs, you must apply to the examination office of your new program to have your academic credits transferred or recognized.
Changing your program of study can affect various aspects of your student life, such as BAföG benefits, the extension of your visa or residence permit, or the imposition of long-term study fees. We therefore strongly recommend that you discuss your change of program in advance with the relevant contact persons.
