University libraries are developing into universal media service providers with spaces for meetings, exchanging ideas and studying. This makes them an essential provider of modern infrastructure and an important part of the science system in Thuringia.
In order to meet the growing demands for quality and quantity of services and to create a powerful, efficient and networked information infrastructure, the Thuringian university libraries have been working more intensively together since 2016 as the “Cooperation Association of Thuringian University Libraries” – “ThHoBi” for short.
In this context, a library service center was created and five working groups with representatives from all Thuringian universities were formed to develop cross-university solutions on the following topics:
- Acquisition and inventory management
- Open Access
- IT infrastructure
- Use/Usage
- Information literacy
The library of the University of Applied Sciences Jena is also a member of the ThHoBi cooperation network.
