Enrolment Ceremony
Welcome to First-Semester Students
Each year, we hold a special ceremony to welcome our newly enrolled students and their families. All staff members are also warmly invited.
The 2026/2027 enrolment ceremony will take place on 20 October 2026 from 3.00 pm at the Volkshaus Jena.
Programme:
- Ceremonial entrance of the university management, senators, deans and guests of honour
- Opening of the matriculation ceremony by Prof. Dr. Kristin Mitte, acting president of the University of Applied Sciences Jena
- Welcome address by Jena’s Lord Mayor, Dr. Thomas Nitzsche
- Welcome address to the new students: Elvira Babić
- Welcome address from the Students’ Council: Laura Steiner & Mark Nützenadel
- Awards and prizes
- Guest speech by an alumnus or alumna
- Ceremonial exit of the university management, senators, deans and guests of honour
Hosting the programme: Prof. Dr Mario Brandtner, Vice-President for Student Affairs, Teaching and Continuing Education at the University of Applied Sciences Jena
Music: BlechKLANG Brass Band
Followed by a champagne reception.
Admission is free. No prior registration is required.
Review of the 2025/2026 Enrolment Ceremony
On 28 October 2025, the University of Applied Sciences Jena held its matriculation ceremony at the Volkshaus Jena. During the ceremony, the university welcomed its new students and honoured outstanding academic achievements.
