Review: Farewell ceremony for graduates of winter semester 2025/2026

Between photos and plans for future: on 5 June 2026, Ernst Abbe University of Applied Sciences in Jena celebrated its graduates’ successful time at university together with them.

In glorious summer weather, around 270 guests gathered in the auditorium to celebrate the successful graduation of 70 students. Even before the ceremony began, graduates were posing for photos with their graduation caps alongside family and friends at the photo wall in the foyer.

Following a convivial champagne reception, Vice-President Mario Brandtner opened the ceremony. In his speech, he emphasised the importance of the university community as a valuable network for both career and personal life and encouraged the graduates to remain connected to their alma mater.

The highlight of event was the formal ceremony on stage, during which each graduate was presented with an official certificate and a rose by the heads of department and programme directors.

Musical and dance entertainment was provided by duo Beat2 and the Indian dance pair Urmikshaa Vishvanath Tawde and Chakradhar Reddy Yaramala.

Sandra Jobst, a graduate from the Department of Business Administration, gave an authentic account of her professional career, recounting her successes, challenges and changes of direction.

At the end of the ceremony, presenter Nancy Reichel invited everyone to a relaxed get-together with food and drinks. Many guests took the opportunity to explore the campus, share memories and round off the day together in a summery atmosphere.
