We wish you good luck and success with your application!

The answer is YES. You will then apply with a mark printout showing a provisional final mark. The grade will automatically appear on your grade printout once you have passed all module examinations and all grades have been posted by the Examinations Office. Students from other universities should contact their respective Examinations Offices.

Important notes: a) Check your grade printout in good time and make sure that all grades are listed and that everything is recognised (e.g. an internship). b) Also talk to the professors with whom you took the exams about this. Inform them that you would like to continue your studies in the Master's programme and which documents you need for your application. c) Also talk to the staff at the relevant examination office about your plans and try to resolve any problems before the application deadline.

No. If you apply with a provisional final grade, the final result of the bachelor's degree is disregarded.

Here you will find document checklists for consecutive Master's degree programmes.

In addition, you will find a checklist with all documents on the last page of the application for admission to the Master's programme.

Normally you have 6-8 weeks to complete your Bachelor thesis. In order for us to know that you will be finished with your Bachelor thesis and colloquium by the end of the matriculation deadline (30.04. in the summer semester and 30.10. in the winter semester), we would like to know the exact deadline of your Bachelor thesis. If you are unable to submit the document by the application deadline, you will be informed of the enrolment deadline (see above) in the confirmation of receipt of your application.

Important information: a) Please inform yourself about the processing times for the Bachelor thesis in the valid examination regulations of your Bachelor degree programme. b) Please also consider the correction time for the Bachelor thesis as well as the time for scheduling the colloquium (if applicable).

You must apply online and by post for your application to be valid. After you have entered all data on the online application portal , a PDF application for admission will be generated. Please sign this and send it by post together with the rest of the application documents to the Master Service. You can find an overview here. The address:

Please inform yourself carefully about our Master's programme. There you will find an information flyer, study regulations, examination regulations, module catalogue as well as information on admission requirements and career prospects for each Master's programme.

Important notes: Tuition fees are charged for General Management (MBA), Health Care Management (MBA), Coaching and Leadership (M. A.), Game and Media Education (M. A.), Mechanical Engineering (M. On the respective study programme page, under the menu item "Application" and then "Requirements", you will find the valid admission requirements for the respective Master's study programme. The main criterion in all Master's programmes is, among other things, the overall grade of the Bachelor's degree, or the preliminary grade.

Important information: a) Find out about the admission requirements in good time. Below you will find the links to each Master's programme sorted by the semester in which the programme begins.

You can answer this question yourself by carefully reading the admission requirements of the respective Master's programme (see links above). If you are still unsure, the respective advisor or the head of the study programme can answer this question for you. However, he/she can only answer the question if you provide him/her with a detailed subject overview.

Important information: During the application period, your application documents will be used to check whether you meet the admission requirements for the desired Master's programme. Should you wish to enquire outside the application period, or if you are unsure, you can contact the Master Service.

Once you have applied online, you will receive an automatic acknowledgement of receipt by email. This will tell you how to log in to the online application portal using your applicant number and date of birth ( to check the status of your application. Furthermore, an acknowledgement of receipt will also be sent to you after your application has been received by post, informing you of any missing documents, if applicable.

Important information: You can submit missing application documents to us no later than the application deadline. Documents submitted after this date cannot be considered in the selection procedure.

At the latest 2-3 weeks after the application deadline, you will be informed by email whether you have been admitted. You will then receive a decision by post.

Important information: If you do not receive a notification from us four weeks after the application deadline, please contact us to inquire about the status of your application.

This means that you have applied with a preliminary final grade and that your Bachelor's degree was not completed at the time of application. It also means that you have to fulfil a condition before you can matriculate or enrol in the desired Master's programme. The condition in this case is that you complete your Bachelor's degree by the end of the matriculation period (three weeks after the start of lectures in the summer semester and two weeks after the start of lectures in the winter semester). You must provide us with proof of successful completion of your Bachelor's degree by then. This can be a copy of the Bachelor's degree certificate and transcript, or if the transcript is not available at that time: a. A printout of grades showing the overall grade, or b. A confirmation from the supervising professor that the Bachelor's degree has been passed.

Important Notes: Exceeding the matriculation deadline will result in withdrawal of conditional admission. Therefore: a) Do everything possible to meet the matriculation deadline and to submit the necessary documents later. b) Talk to your supervisors at the university and, if applicable, in the company in good time about the need to meet this deadline. c) Try to hand in your Bachelor thesis early (correction time) and - if applicable - arrange a date for the colloquium with your supervisors in good time.

This means that your Bachelor's degree does not include the required number of ECTS (for admission to the respective Master's degree programme) and that you must successfully complete subjects amounting to XX ECTS during your Master's degree programme or in a pre-semester. You will receive more detailed information about the special study plan in writing in an admission letter.

Important information: a) Ask the professor responsible in good time when you have to successfully complete the requirements. b) When completing the special study plan, try not to neglect the subjects in your Master's programme.

You have the possibility to file an objection in which you explain why a rejection is not comprehensible for you. The objection should be addressed directly to the Rector of the Ernst Abbe University of Applied Sciences Jena and submitted in written form. An email is not sufficient.

You will need the following documents: a) Proof of completion of Bachelor's degree (see question 12) b) Copy of exmatriculation certificate(s) c) Proof of payment of semester fees (proof of re-registration or new payment in the form of a copy of the bank statement) d) Proof of health insurance e) Completed enrolment form with which you officially accept the place of study.

Important information for graduates of the EAH Jena:

  • In order to receive a certificate of exmatriculation, you must first complete and sign an application for exmatriculation and hand it in at the Registrar's Office. Do not forget to have the library sign the routing slip. You will get the remaining signatures - if you continue your Master studies at the EAH Jena - at the Student Secretariat.
  • You can prove the payment of the semester fee as a Bachelor student of the EAH Jena by the re-registration; the semester fee paid by the re-registration is also valid for the Master study.
  • If you are an EAH student in the last semester of your Bachelor's degree and do not wish to re-register for the following semester, but intend to complete a Master's degree at EAH Jena, you should apply for a deferment of payment of the semester fee. Please contact the Master Service in this regard. In case of admission to the Master's programme, you will then be requested to pay the semester fee in the notification of admission.

With a deferment of payment of the semester fee you can defer the payment of the semester fee (re-registration) for the following semester (winter or summer semester) until the end of the current semester (31 March/30 September) at the latest. It is normally used if you are in the last semester of your Bachelor's programme and are applying for a Master's place, but are not sure whether you will be admitted to the desired Master's programme. You will pay the semester fee for the coming semester only after you have been requested to do so in the notification of admission to the Master's programme. Please send an e-mail to the Master Service if you need a deferral of payment for the re-registration fee.

Important information for graduates of the EAH Jena: If you already know that you will not be able to hand in your Bachelor thesis in the current semester but only in the following semester and that the colloquium may also not take place in the current semester but only in the following semester, then you should re-register in any case. The semester fee paid (re-registration) also applies to the Master's programme.

The enrolment deadline for Master's degree programmes is 30.04. for the summer semester and 30.10. for the winter semester.
